The Attacks on Mayor Adams Must Cease

By February 22, 2025No Comments

Just six weeks before President Donald J. Trump’s reelection, the Democrats unveiled their latest bit of lawfare by indicting one of their own, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, on dubious charges. Adams had attracted the ire of the Biden Regime by speaking out about the damage that their Open Borders Policy had wrought on the people of New York City – costing them nearly $10 billion dollars in welfare and housing, straining City infrastructure and schools, and spiking violent crime as illegals flooded the streets. Notwithstanding our substantial policy differences with Adams, it is clear that speaking out in the interest of his constituents rendered him the subject of a ceaseless lawfare and defamation campaign aimed at usurping his mayoral authority.

When he took the Oath of Office on January 20th, President Trump possessed a mandate from the American people to end the politicization of the Department of Justice (DOJ) that threatened to tear our country apart and undermine the fairness of our judicial system. Backed by this tremendous mandate, President Trump’s DOJ ordered the prosecution of Eric Adams withdrawn, as the Attorney General has the “exclusive authority and absolute discretion” to do. Despite this clear authority under U.S. v. Nixon, Judge Dale E. Ho refused to drop the charges against Adams, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul took actions to undermine his authority as Mayor.

The New York Young Republican Club condemns the actions of Ho and Hochul and recognizes that the issue of who should represent the people of New York City is best decided at the ballot box. Kathy Hochul in particular, whose own alleged conduct with regard to Vornado Realty was – if not criminal – deeply questionable, should respect the will of the people and allow this issue to be decided in the upcoming Primary and General Elections.
