It will take time to bring to justice the corrupt public officials who have weaponized our nation’s law enforcement to destroy Americans who refuse to subscribe to the tyrannical Leftist agenda. Targeting the former and current soldiers of wokeness inside the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is a good place to start, and the New York Young Republican Club supports the proposal by U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to bring contempt of Congress charges against dishonest attorney Mark Pomerantz.
The former New York prosecutor’s arrogant conduct before a Congressional investigation committee recently exemplified the general disdain he and his corrupt ilk hold for the rule of law and for the American people, who deserve to know the motivation behind the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s distorted prosecution of former President Donald J. Trump on invented charges.
Pomerantz could not restrain his contempt for Congress’s inquiry as he invoked his 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination during pointed questioning by the committee. It is an odd tactic for a lawyer who would bury the Bill of Rights to target his political foes.
Pomerantz is the same lawyer who is so filled with vitriol and partisanship that he quit the office of Democrat Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a childish huff back in 2022 when Bragg initially declined to bring charges against President Trump over an alleged $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Bragg later resumed the probe and has indicted the former president on charges all other seasoned prosecutors agree have no merit.
Pomerantz, in the meantime, seized an opportunity to profit by publishing a book about prosecuting Trump in which he laid out his allegations, as baseless as they are. But when called to testify about the same material he splattered on the pages of his book, Pomerantz was suddenly speechless.
It is beyond time that Congress hold these corrupt, political hitmen accountable. Pomerantz set out to sway a presidential election. Bragg has taken up his corrupt cause.
America deserves better, and Rep. Gaetz has shown the fortitude to deliver.
