Over the weekend, federal agents arrested two lawbreakers in robes for illegally harboring criminal aliens from law enforcement. Months ago, a violent Tren de Aragua (TdA) gangster was arrested at the home of Judge Jose “Joel” Cano. When it was revealed that the illegal alien was living in the judge’s home – and perhaps dating his daughter – Judge Cano resigned from the bench in disgrace. The Supreme Court of New Mexico banned him from ever serving again. Elsewhere, Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan helped a violent illegal immigrant escape ICE via a courtroom back door, as agents arrived to return the man to his native country of Mexico. Both Judge Cano and Judge Dugan were indicted on Friday for obstructing law enforcement operations.
Judges, like the people they serve, must obey the law. Yet Democrat activists believe that judicial robes are “cloaks of immunity” that exempt them from the rules that every American must follow. In the first 100 days of President Donald J. Trump’s Administration, judges began obstructing deportation orders. Then, they ordered the Administration to bring an MS-13 gang leader back to the United States – after the man was already deported. Yet this, too, was not enough. Judges Cano and Dugan actively sheltered violent illegal aliens from law enforcement, tossing their oaths of office to wind. Here, President Trump drew the line.
The New York Young Republican Club applauds the Trump Administration for holding these judges to the standard that every other American must follow. Nevertheless, two prosecutions are not enough. With their powerful mandate from the American People, the Administration must track down and deport every illegal alien remaining in the United States. Every corrupt judge, official, or activist that obstructs this process must be prosecuted and jailed. The law is the law; Judges Cano and Dugan finally encountered an Administration that will not bend or break it. Mr. President, this was a start. Prepare the handcuffs!
