Announcing our New Candidate Endorsement Process

By April 6, 2023No Comments

The New York Young Republican Club is proud to unveil its new Candidate Endorsement Process. The process consists of several steps, starting with the candidate’s submission of an online application. The application is then reviewed by the Club’s Board of Governors, after which the Club’s Campaigns Committee may request an interview with the candidate. A decision to endorse is made after comprehensive deliberation and a vote.

The New York Young Republican Club endorses political candidates at all levels based on pertinent, merit-based criteria. The Candidate Endorsement Process is thorough and selective, geared towards endorsing only the best in the political arena. The Board’s analysis is fastidious and impartial, placing emphasis on the candidate’s background, positions, knowledge of and solutions to critical issues, character and authenticity, and commitment to young people and conservatism.

The Club’s Board of Governors may endorse, by majority vote, a candidate in any city, statewide, or national race, provided that such candidate has either registered as a Republican at the time of endorsement or is running as a Republican. The Club has no policy against endorsing during a Republican primary election or in an intraparty leadership race. The Club prioritizes endorsing members over non-members.

Endorsed candidates benefit from digital, structural, strategic, and boots-on-the-ground grassroots support from the Club’s Campaigns Committee. Each election cycle, the Committee works tirelessly with candidates months in advance of Election Day to increase their likelihood of victory.
