Endorsement: Marc Molinaro for Congress (NY-19)

By February 24, 2022No Comments

The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Marcus Molinaro, a member of the Club, for New York’s 19th Congressional District. Molinaro has held a passion for public service for as long as he was able to vote, perhaps even before. He started his career by interning for then-Assemblywoman Eileen Hickey in the Village of Tivoli. He was elected to public office at the age of 18 in 1994, where he served on the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees. A year later in 1995, he was elected as the youngest Mayor in the United States. He would go on to be re-elected as Mayor five more times (1995-2006) and four more times to the Dutchess County Legislature (2001-2006), where he served as Chairman of the Budget, Finance, and Personnel Committee and Co-Chairman of the Commission on Child Protection.

In 2006, Molinaro took his passion and experience to Albany, where he was elected to represent the 103rd District in the New York State Assembly. During his three-term tenure, Molinaro led the fight to preserve the Hudson River Valley Greenway and pushed to adopt budget and ethics reform legislation. He co-sponsored and co-adopted the “Government Consolidation and Citizen Empowerment Act” with then-Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Molinaro has also sponsored several improvements to New York State’s Election Law, opposed MTA payroll taxes, and has worked hard to provide necessary relief to revitalize our economy and improve our quality of life.

Upon taking office as County Executive, Molinaro created his 4RFuture strategy: Reform, Retain, Reinvest, Recruit. This four-pronged approach aims to address economic development, invest in targeted marketing to fill vacant commercial and industrial spaces, solve the issue of bringing in more tourism, and promote agri-business opportunities.

Molinaro has brought this strategy to fruition by showcasing how he runs County Government: smaller and more efficient. County government is now operating at its smallest workforce in over 32 years; this has saved taxpayers millions of dollars. In his last term as County Executive, Molinaro had not envisioned a congressional run. However, he expressed that national and state leadership has been “a sad and perplexing embarrassment” and that is the main reason for his bid to run in the 19th Congressional District.

“I believe with every fiber of my being that we must meet each other where we are, serve each other better, love each other deeply and get about the business of saving America and Americans”.

Molinaro has promised that, if he is elected, he will:

  • Focus on cutting taxes
  • Rein in and limit government spending
  • Manage border security
  • Break down barriers and improve care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Limit Washington’s influence on the Hudson Valley

The New York Young Republican Club strongly urges all New York residents living in the 19th Congressional District to vote in support of Marcus Molinaro.
