The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Judge Susan Sullivan-Bisceglia for the 9th Judicial District of the New York State Supreme Court. The 9th Judicial District encompasses Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties.

Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia has lived in the Hudson Valley in New York her whole life. For years, she has been tearing down barriers and blazing through obstacles, achieving what only very few achieve in a whole lifetime. Not only is Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia the first woman judge serving in her hometown, the Town of LaGrange, but she is also the founder of her own law firm, as well as aircraft sales and brokerage firm. In addition to being a licensed pilot for over thirty years, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia was also the previous acting Poughkeepsie City Court Judge, Town of Union Vale Justice, Town of Patterson Justice, Associate Justice in the Village of Wappingers, Past President of the Dutchess County Magistrates Association, and she also currently serves as the first Vice President of the New York State Magistrates Association. Her work for the Association includes advocating for the interests of the courts as well as educating judges all across the state. Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia believes that educating is one of the best ways to pay it forward, and she lives that belief every day.

Growing up, when faced with the choice of whether to go to law school or become a commercial pilot, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia chose to do both. In terms of her legal career, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School and now has almost three decades of experience working in courts, major law firms, Fortune 500 companies, and the State of New York.

During these past three decades, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia has presided over, researched, and analyzed hundreds of legal issues in both civil and criminal cases. She has represented clients in the New York State Supreme Court, Family Court, County Criminal Court, and Surrogates Court. As a previous Member of the Industrial Board of Appeals of the State of New York, she was a hearing officer, adjudicating matters on appeal from the New York State Department of Labor and public safety matters. While at IBM, she was a corporate attorney where she dealt with high-profile business transactions and corporate matters. She also worked as a corporate finance and litigation attorney at Clifford, Chance, Rogers & Wells.

In terms of her aviation career, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia grew up in a family of pilots, which is where she derives her drive and inspiration from. Her dad was a commercial pilot and her great uncle was a decorated Air Force Colonel. Receiving her license at the young age of 23, Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia eventually got her license with an instrument-rated designation to allow her to fly in all types of weather.

Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia is committed to quality education, community service, and supporting the youth. As a mentor to law students, she frequently participates in judicial and legal education programs and has also published articles in the New York Law Journal and the Journal of Air Law and Commerce.

“I am a jurist who truly cares about my community,” states Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia. “I believe the rule of law must always control. I am deeply committed to serving my community and would consider it a great privilege to be your next NYS Supreme Court Justice.”

The New York Young Republican Club believes Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia will continue to be a strong judge and encourages all registered voters of Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester counties to vote for Judge Sullivan-Bisceglia on November 7th!
