The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Anthony Palumbo for New York State’s 1st Senate District seat. A New York State Senator for Long Island’s nearby 2nd District since 2013, Anthony was born and raised in the area before attending Lafayette College and St. John’s University School of Law. He began his career in public service as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County, rising to Trial Supervisor for five Eastern Suffolk towns before starting his own law practice with his wife in Mattituck. During his time in Albany over the last six years, Anthony has sponsored and passed bills – going across the aisle to build support in many cases – that provide tax cuts, first-time homebuyer credits, and education reform to Suffolk County residents. In addition to his platform’s support for affordable home ownership on Long Island and reforming the oft-misaligned Common Core education curriculum, Anthony has sponsored legislation that would toughen public corruption laws in New York, a level of accountability all elected officials should be held to, as well as actively voiced his support for legislation limiting the Governor’s Executive Powers. Anthony’s demonstrated professional legal experience, ability to work equitably across the political aisle, and passion for his hometown and local constituencies will serve the District well.
