Today is a dark day for New York City. Zohran Mamdani, a Marxist, Islamist, Communist, and radical Democrat, has declared victory in the Mayor’s race. For the next four years, New Yorkers must live under communist rule and suffer its consequences. Since 2019, Mamdani expressed support for defunding the NYPD, expanding immigration, and freezing rents. His policies would make Joseph Stalin smile; it beggars belief that a majority of New Yorkers supported his platform. Make no mistake, however: tonight’s election was not the end of this fight. It was the start of the war.
For the next four years, the New York Young Republican Club will be everywhere and anywhere to thwart Mamdani’s radical agenda. In June, after his nomination on the Democratic ticket, the NYYRC hard-launched the campaign to Deport Zohran. We started a national conversation that drew support from several members of Congress, including Reps. Andy Ogles and Nancy Mace. A month later, the NYYRC published its memo to Congress outlining the constitutional argument to disqualify Mamdani from the ballot. Again, our advocacy drew support from Congress and launched a national conversation about Mamdani’s campaign.
After today, our work is only beginning. With over 2,000 members, the NYYRC is New York’s de facto political opposition to Mamdani and the City Council. Our members are capable, ready, and organized. We will not abandon New York – we will save her. Where Mamdani goes, we will oppose him. Where he acts, we will defy him. We will be the lurking fear in his darkest dreams, the shadows that trail behind him at night, the lingering asterisk atop his legacy. The New York Young Republican Club is here for the fight, and we will organize the defense of our City.
The New York Young Republican Club congratulates our endorsed candidates on their reelections. In south Brooklyn, we extend a warm congratulations to Inna Vernikov on another term. Councilwoman Vernikov is a staunch patriot and New Yorker; Brooklyn has the representation it deserves with her in office. On Staten Island, Councilman Frank Morano will continue to represent the best of the deep-red South Shore, one of the great bastions of conservatism in New York City. David Carr, in Staten Island’s District 50, is the unsung hero of the New York GOP. We are thrilled for his reelection.
In Westchester, we congratulate James Nolan on his victory for District 15 of the County Board of Legislators. Edward Wehrheim handily won reelection as Town Supervisor in Smithtown. The New York Young Republican Club is proud to help our endorsed candidates win elections. Small or large, local or national, our impact has made its mark on New York City.
As 2029 approaches, the Republican Party has four years to prepare for the next mayoral election. When the consequences of Mamdani’s policies are felt – a police exodus, more violent crime, higher taxes, and collapsing infrastructure – New Yorkers will call for an alternative. Republicans must answer their prayers. The New York Young Republican Club is willing to work hand in hand with local Republican organizations to grow our coalition and win elections. At the NYYRC, we welcome New Yorkers of all stripes who love our City and are not afraid to save her. To save New York, take the leap of faith and join our team: become a member.
Tonight’s election was momentous for two reasons: first, for the consequences of a Zohran Mamdani victory for our City. But second, and more importantly, tonight matters for the spark it awakens in the heart of every New York conservative. The next election is four years away, but the time to start is now. Let’s get to work.
