The Democrats have finally found a criminal Venezuelan they do not want in New York City. In the wee hours of Saturday morning, elite U.S. special forces warriors raided a fortified compound on the outskirts of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. Inside, the soldiers made their way toward their target: Nicolás Maduro, President of the Venezuelan Regime and narcoterrorist ringleader of the Cartel de los Soles. In just under three minutes, without taking a single casualty, Delta Force and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team captured Maduro. Three hours later, he was handcuffed and loaded on a long ride to New York, where he will stand trial for his crimes against the United States of America and the American people.
With this operation, President Donald J. Trump and the U.S. Cabinet restored U.S. dominance and deterrence in the Western Hemisphere. Since 2015, more than 50,000 Americans per year died of overdoses; collectively, 1.2 million succumbed since 1999. With support from allies who seek to undermine the United States, including China, Russia, and Iran, Venezuela was a major international drug trafficking hub and source of instability in the Western Hemisphere. After last night’s operation, America’s adversaries are put on notice: the Monroe Doctrine is again the law of the land, and the United States will not hesitate to use its power in the interests of its people.
The Republican Party must remember, however, that America First begins and ends in the Homeland. While exerting peace through strength is at times necessary, the scope of foreign engagements must be limited to what actually serves the interests of the American People. In lesser administrations, regime change in Venezuela could become a “Mission Accomplished” moment, but President Trump campaigned on lessons learned from the Iraq War, and we are confident America will be mindful of them as Venezuela transitions to a new government. The victory of the moment cannot be allowed to become the endless war of the future.
Regime change in Venezuela, then, must not distract our government from needed reforms at home. Let Mayor Zohran Mamdani weep for his departed Venezuelan comrade. We will focus on the home front and the pocketbooks of American families. The courage our warriors displayed raiding Maduro’s fortified complex is the same strength Americans require to dismantle the institutions of the globalist order, both foreign and domestic. We cannot remove our eyes from Americans suffering from criminal migrants already within our borders; they call for our support, as do young men and women who cannot afford homes or children. Making America Great Again requires occasional foreign policy victories, but MAGA’s essence is domestic.
The New York Young Republican Club congratulates President Donald J. Trump on a thrilling military victory and the restoration of American dominance within the Western Hemisphere. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said it best when he stated: “What all of us witnessed last night was sheer guts and grit, [the] gallantry and glory of the American warrior.” America’s Empire of Influence has been restored and deposing the Maduro Regime is pivotal to countering China and combatting illegal immigration. Today may signal the beginning of better times.
