The New York Young Republican Club extends its condolences to the Royal Family and all British nationals and Commonwealth citizens on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
During the Queen’s long reign, the world and position of her nations fundamentally changed. In many ways, the United Kingdom of 2022 bears little resemblance to that of 1952. However, over those 70 years, the Queen served as a consistent, well-loved presence for billions of people. She provided council to Prime Ministers and inspiration to all.
From 1585, when the English first settled the New World under Elizabeth I, to 1776, when the American colonies declared independence from Great Britain under George III, to today, our peoples have evolved in tandem—each challenging and learning from the other. As the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth Realms embrace a new monarch, we hope that the King draws on the lessons of his mother’s reign and helps steer the United Kingdom to prosperity and peace.
