The New York Young Republican Club has uncovered evidence of serious potential financial misconduct within the Association of New York State Young Republican Clubs (NYSYR), the umbrella body recognized by the New York Republican Party under Chairman Ed Cox. During the transition of accounts after the August NYSYR election, we identified material irregularities dating to the administration of former chairman Peter Giunta, raising questions about possible rogue actors within the organization. Our concerns include potential failures by the prior administration to follow basic internal control procedures in accounts payable and apparent unexplained material unpaid obligations. We have notified NYSYR leadership and demanded a full, transparent accounting of their finances to bring the truth to light. To safeguard the long-term integrity of the NYSYR, the New York Young Republican Club will take all actions necessary to hold the responsible parties accountable.
“As the newly inaugurated Vice Chairwoman of the NYSYR,” said Becky Oliveira, “I am shocked and saddened by the alleged past wrongdoings that we have uncovered, and it is my duty to the members of and donors to this organization to restore its financial stability. I will do everything possible in my leadership capacity to right the wrongs of the previous administration and to ensure that our current team moves forward with strong and clear accountability to those we serve.”
