SCOTUS Rejects Leftist Judicial Overreach

By April 7, 2025No Comments

Tonight, the Supreme Court took the first step toward halting the abuse of power by district judges nationwide. Striking down both the D.C. Circuit and Judge James Boasberg, the Court stated what was common sense all along: that the President of the United States has the full power to deport illegal immigrant Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang members under the Alien Enemies Act. Obstructionist judges who used convoluted legal reasoning in a desperate attempt to sabotage the MAGA Agenda must now reevaluate their approach before they rapidly lose public credibility.

Still, tonight’s ruling from SCOTUS is not enough. The Constitution’s Suspension Clause permits the suspension of habeas corpus during an enemy invasion. As President Donald J. Trump declared on March 15, Tren de Aragua is “perpetrating, attempting, and threatening an invasion or predatory incursion against the territory of the United States.” Republicans in Congress must now represent the will of their voters and pass legislation to suspend habeas protections for members of the TdA gang. This will significantly speed up the pace of deportations and give the President the tools he needs to get the job done.

The New York Young Republican Club commends the Supreme Court for slamming the brakes on reckless district judges but recognizes that the Court’s opinion does not go far enough to end the ongoing migrant invasion. Republicans in the House and Senate must do their part to accelerate deportations by suspending habeas protections for TdA gang members and providing the President with the necessary legal support to enact the MAGA Agenda.
