The New York Young Republicans Club (NYYRC) played a critical role in the 2021 election season by securing victories for several public offices, the defeat of heinous ballot propositions, and huge voter gains for Republican candidates throughout the New York metropolitan area.
In the NYC City Council races, Club member Vicky Paladino flipped CD-19, Inna Vernikov flipped CD-48, and David Carr won CD-50! We would like to recognize Club member Mark Szuszkiewicz, who came within a hair of winning CD-47, and Brian Fox, who put up a worthy fight in CD-43. The Club also played a large role in defeating all three Democrat-backed ballot proposals intended to make cheating in future elections easier. Outside New York City, we deployed on Long Island in support of future Republican District Attorneys Ray Tierney for Suffolk County and Anne Donnelly for Nassau County, both of whom flipped their seats!
During this election cycle, the New York Young Republican Club was more active than any other Young Republican in the United States. We:
- worked with 20+ candidates and campaign teams
- launched 13 deployments
- organized six crash rallies
- offered three political and communications strategy sessions to candidates
- deployed 150+ volunteers
In addition, several New York Young Republican Club members worked for Republican offices and campaigns, including Nicole Kiprilov for Suffolk GOP, Bobby Levy for Staten Island GOP, and Fernando Acosta as Vicky Paladino’s campaign manager. These victories were a collective effort, and the Club put our weight on the scale and made a tangible difference for Republicans in New York City.

Inna Vernikov, City Councilwoman Elect, CD-48, also said of the Club; “Thank you all so much for the help and support. […] We just sent a very loud and clear message to the Democrats, to the Progressives, that this district is sick and tired of the policies that are destroying this city. Thank you; I love you all!”
