Avoiding the Pence Problem

By June 18, 2024No Comments

President Trump can’t afford to make the same mistake.

This time is different, and this next term will be pivotal.

The President cannot afford to be surrounded by the likes of Mike Pence, John Bolton, or other never-Trump neo-conservatives.

It is imperative that whomever Trump’s Vice Presidential pick is, they share the same worldview and policy goals.

To be sure, the days of GOP orthodoxy are over. The MAGA brigade has plowed into the Republican Party, effectively exposing America-lasters in its ranks. A paradigm-shift of this magnitude was certainly a hard pill to swallow for the many establishmentarians, but it was entirely necessary.

Some woke up and smelled the coffee; others remained implacable in their neoconservative dogmatism. The latter is, at this point, as much an obstacle to the America-first movement as the Leftists in the Democrat Party.

Some will say that the Vice President pick is inconsequential, or that it’s purely symbolic. The New York Young Republican Club, however, believes that Trump’s decision will, ultimately, be emblematic of the path that his administration will take.

Trump’s Vice President must be a dyed-in-the-wool patriot, not an establishment capitulator.
