The New York Young Republican Club thanks the men and women of the NYPD for their professionalism. On Thursday and Friday nights, leftist groups leaked the location of our events: a panel on Drag Queen Story Hours by our Black and Hispanic Caucuses and the Martinis with Roger Stone event. Protestors (or, as we call them “fans”) showed up in advance of both events. The safety and security of our Members, prospective Members and guests in attendance is of utmost importance to us.
Both events went off without a single incident, and those in attendance had an enjoyable time. Thank you to our Members and Guests for not taking the bait. We hope that you will join us again in the future.
Our Club is a stalwart supporter of the First Amendment, and the illiberal loony left’s contemporary fusion of fascism and street anarchy jeopardizes the spirit of the First Amendment, but not the law of it. As revolting, inaccurate, and at times highly entertaining as the speech was, it is protected by our great Constitution and the law enforcement professionals are present to ensure that as well. We hope the protesters remember that going forward. Further, they ought to remember that violence is not protected by the First Amendment and that words are not violence.
Thank you again to the men and women in blue for all you do for the City.
And to our “fans” who showed up Thursday and Friday—we are always open to discussing issues in an open forum and format if you are interested. Our Catholic Caucus Chairman had a beautiful prayer for you on Thursday night, and, though we may disagree on the issues, we are all Americans.
