This year for Veteran’s Day, our goal is to raise funds for Homes for Veterans, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. They launched a “Covid Care Package” program during the pandemic, dropping cases of essential items to local Veteran facilities. This program is in addition to their normal work, renovating the homes of disabled veterans to create a barrier-free living, at no cost to the veterans.
Homes for Veterans will purchase essential items for the Manhattan VA Medical Center (423 East 23rd Street) with the funds raised. Items include socks, underwear, t-shirts, sanitary napkins, razors, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, and/or ear savers (for the back of masks). This drop will service approximately 200 veterans.
The New York Young Republican Club would like to raise $500-$1000, and Homes for Veterans will match the New York Young Republican Club’s donation by November 30th.
