The Bull Moose Project has spearheaded a letter sent to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation urging opposition to the nomination of Gigi Sohn to the FCC. The New York Young Republican Club joined the Bull Moose Project in signing on to the letter.
Dear Chairwoman Cantwell and Ranking Member Cruz,
We write to urge you to oppose the nomination of Gigi Sohn to the Federal Communications Commission.
Ms. Sohn has demonstrated she is both unfit and unqualified to serve as Commissioner of the FCC. Sohn’s desire to regulate broadband, mandate government-owned networks, and disregard intellectual property protections are truly disconcerting.
Furthermore, Sohn appears to have serious conflicts of interest as it pertains to conducting oversight over telecommunications companies. Sohn raked in six figure consulting fees from a think tank funded by many of the major telecommunications companies she is charged with overseeing if she is confirmed.
Ms. Sohn has clearly illustrated she is a partisan actor, repeatedly calling for censoring major conservative news outlets and campaigning for cable and satellite providers to drop them from their networks altogether.
We strongly urge you to oppose her nomination to the FCC.
Sincerely,
Gavin M. Wax
President
