In 1985 Walt Barbee, an airline pilot and resident of Fairfax County, became aware of the concerning material being taught in his children’s sex education program in the Fairfax public school system. Other parents became interested in helping him develop a strategy to have the program changed. Walt quickly discovered that parents in other localities were fighting the same battle and soon expanded into a statewide change in the law and the need to address additional family issues such as abortion and school choice. Out of this effort The Family Foundation was birthed and in 1988 they associated with Focus on the Family. In time, The Family Foundation established five biblical principles as guideposts for advocacy (see and established their mission preserve and promote the family in Virginia as God’s foundation upon which all free and thriving societies are built. They inspire Virginians, pastors and legislators to engage in meaningful conversations and productive actions that advance these biblical principles in the public square; to incorporate the unique, God-given passions of individuals and organizations into the work, thereby increasing the number of laborers, and, to instigate carefully chosen political and cultural battles that prompt necessary changes to the law in Virginia in these five principle areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Brand Manager is primarily responsible to ensure that our products and services resonate and reach existing and potential supporters in a favorable manner. Additionally, this position produces a winsome perception in all forward-facing content. This role is expected to understand marketing data and analytics and adjust strategies according to results to help The Family Foundation expand its mission and grow. The Brand Manager reports to the VP of Grassroots and Communications Strategies. This is a very rewarding position for a low-mid level candidate interested in the political arena and supporting the strong pro-family movement in Virginia.   • Strong work ethic
  • Spiritual maturity and a biblical worldview (agreement with TFF’s statement of faith and principles)
  • Ability to multi-task, work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Proficiency required in Microsoft Office suite, Gmail, and Internet
  • Proficiency expected in major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and X
  • Database experience preferred
  • Graphic Design competence required with preference for users of tools like Canva or Adobe
  • Excellent oral communication skills required
  • Camera and Videography skills preferred
Brand Management:
  • Creation of promotional material and marketing of events, including but not limited to:
    • Development
      • Gala
      • Spring fundraising receptions
      • Semi-Annual Advisory Council events
    • Church Ambassador Network
      • Semi-Annual Pastor Summit
      • Pastor Tour
      • Locality-based small gatherings
    • Grassroots
      • Mama Bear Advocacy Day
      • Annual Virginia March for Life (in partnership with other entities)
      • Speak Up! Virginia Podcast
    • Policy and Student Programs
      • Press Conferences
      • Legislative/Coalition Receptions
      • Equip Worldview Academy
    • Founding Freedoms Law Center
      • Press Conferences
    • Lead marketing campaigns that center around policy initiatives
    • Oversee website including content management, accessibility, and
    • Daily management of social media channels
      • Creation of graphics and video content as needed.
    • Design and oversee segmented email branding for TFF’s subdivisions such as FFLC, Speak Up! Virginia, Equip Worldview Academy, etc.
