The Rise of the Nones and American Politics: Over the last few decades, the percentage of Americans who say they have no religious affiliation—the “Nones”—has exploded. Something like 20% of Americans today say they do not identify with a religion, up from about 5% a generation ago. Among younger Americans, the percentages are even higher. The Nones do not reject belief; they reject institutional religion, and often follow their own, individual spiritual paths. Join us for a discussion on the rise of the Nones: why it is occurring and the impact it will have on American culture and politics.
