Brian Allen is the art critic for National Review. He was the curator of American art at the Clark Art Institute and the director of the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, MA and the museum division of the New-York Historical Society. He has his BA from Wesleyan, his MA from Williams, and his Ph.D. from Yale. He lives in Arlington in southwestern Vermont. Over the last ten years, he’s written hundreds of trenchant, engaging stories on exhibitions, artists, the art market, museums of all types except, by sheer lack of opportunity, zoos and children’s museums, and museum governance.
