About Robert Amsterdam:
Robert Amsterdam is a world-renowned international lawyer and founding partner of Amsterdam & Partners LLP, bringing decades of experience handling high-stakes political, commercial, and human rights cases across emerging markets. Throughout his career, he has represented sovereign states, political leaders, global corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. Currently, Amsterdam serves as legal counsel to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church amid ongoing political persecution.
Celebrated for his relentless human rights advocacy, he was awarded The American Lawyer’s prestigious Global Pro Bono Dispute Award. A frequent commentator on geopolitical affairs, his analyses have been published in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Financial Times, with broadcast appearances on Tucker Carlson, BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and Al Jazeera. He also hosts the foreign policy podcast Departures. Licensed as a solicitor in both Ontario and England & Wales, Amsterdam holds degrees from Carleton University and Queen’s University. This panel is Mr. Amsterdam’s second event to date with the NYYRC.

About Father Michael Barone:
A priest since 2008, Father Michael Barone provides ministry for the Office of Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark while serving as the Chaplain for the Traditional Latin Mass Community of Jersey City, and has regularly celebrated and lectured on the Latin Mass in New York and New Jersey for over 18 years. A Knight of Ecclesiastical Grace in the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George, Father holds Masters Degrees in Theology and Church History from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg MD, and Seton Hall University, as well as one in Archives and Public History from New York University. This panel is Father’s first opportunity to contribute to the NYYRC.

About Commander Gregory K. Bovino:
Commander Greg Bovino has nearly three decades of experience leading complex border security, law enforcement, intelligence, and strategic operations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security. His proven success directing large-scale organizations of more than 1,100 personnel, multimillion-dollar budgets, and mission-critical operations across land, coastal, and international borders have driven measurable improvements in security, operational effectiveness, employee engagement, and interagency collaboration.
He has been recognized for building high-performing teams, implementing innovative technologies and data-driven strategies, and forging strong partnerships with federal, state, local, international, and community stakeholders. His strong leadership has been over a variety of initiatives that significantly increased narcotics interdictions, reduced border fatalities and illegal crossings, strengthened counterintelligence capabilities, modernized enterprise operations, and fostered an inclusive culture of leadership and accountability throughout the organization.
Commander Bovino holds two master’s degrees; one in National Security Strategy from the National War College, and the other in Public Administration from Appalachian State University. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Natural Resources Management and Forestry from Western Carolina University. He also completed the Customs and Border Protection Leadership Institute in 2012 as well as the Department of Homeland Security’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program in 2016.
