The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Vanessa Simon for the New York City Council District 31 in the 2021 general election. Vanessa was born in Florida and raised by Haitian immigrants in Long Island New York. Vanessa currently works in Human Resources at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she serves as the go-to advisor for the Museum’s Senior Vice President.
Vanessa’s work ethic speaks volumes to her family’s values of hard work and perseverance. After receiving a degree in Political Science from SUNY Geneseo, Vanessa hit the ground running. She became a member of the Suffolk County Young Republicans. She also partnered with KABOOM!, a national non-profit to construct a beautiful new playground in Jamaica, Queens. During the pandemic, she dedicated time to a non-profit homeless center, the Restfull Nights Organization, and to a faith-based rehab center, the Faith Mission Alcohol Crisis Center. She provided both of these facilities with essential care kits and cooked meals for their local communities during the pandemic. In addition, Vanessa captained a project funded by Target to develop a new library that prioritized a safe and healthy learning environment for the children within her community. She organized 250 volunteers to make this possible. Vanessa is also a volunteer lector for St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
Vanessa’s faith, devotion to family, and tangible duty to the community set her apart. She shows great promise as a candidate who genuinely strives to make her community a better, more principled place. The New York Young Republican Club urges all voters in the 31st City Council District of New York City to support Vanessa on her quest to replenish and revive the quality of life and living in South Queens and New York City. We commend Vanessa for her dedication to the community and look forward to watching the progression of District 31.
