Mike Muñoz is no stranger to service, and the moment for his service to the people of our state has arrived.

A former Sergeant in the United States Army, Muñoz served fourteen years on Active Duty and in the Reserves as a Radio Transmissions Specialist and Geospatial Imagery Intelligence Analyst. He deployed to Iraq twice with the legendary 101st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles, during Operations Iraqi Freedom I, IV, and V. He supported USSOUTHCOM, USNORTHCOM, and USCENTCOM. From the deserts of Iraq to the defense of the homeland, Muñoz answered the call.
Why does a veteran deserve to represent the people of New York City? Because a man who has risked his life for his country will never hesitate to fight for his neighbors. Because a man who’s led his comrades into battle understands the stakes of security for our families, our businesses, and our public spaces. In Muñoz, we have an ally who has seen the consequences of failed leadership abroad and will never tolerate it at home. In Muñoz, we have a coalition partner who can withstand attacks from left and right, and follow through for his constituents. And Manhattan residents in the 67th Assembly District are fatigued by twenty years of high-tax, high-crime liberal rule.
That spirit of service did not end with the uniform. Muñoz is the founding Commander of American Legion Post 917, the first new American Legion Post chartered in New York City in over a decade. Under his leadership, Post 917 has become a vital institution, advocating before the City Council’s Committee on Veterans and providing a community of purpose for those who have served. Now, as Chairman of our Veterans Caucus, Muñoz has recruited and mentored veteran members into new leadership roles, rising in defense of our individual rights, our community values, and our limitless opportunity. Michael Muñoz leaves no veteran behind, and no creed forgotten.
In Zohran Mamdani’s New York, public safety remains an afterthought, small businesses are strangled by regulation, and veterans are an invisible constituency. We know Muñoz will fight for veterans’ healthcare access and veterans’ dignity. We trust he will stand with law enforcement to restore safe streets and clean public spaces. We expect he will cut the red tape and the tax burden that suffocates the small businesses which bring life and commerce to the streets of Manhattan.
