The New York Young Republican Club is proud to endorse Felicia Kalan for New York City Council District 22. Kalan is a working mom who brings a great deal of leadership and entrepreneurial experience to her candidacy.
Kalan graduated from the University of Evansville and entered public service to work as a legislative aide. She then decided to become a social entrepreneur and started an organization called “Unchained,” which is a national anti-human trafficking organization raising awareness about the devastation of human trafficking through artistic fashion shows. Currently, a freelance consultant, Kalan’s life work is empowering young women to tap into their entrepreneurial potential.
Kalan is very active in her community, organizing countless community service events focused on cleaning New York City’s streets, is a founding member of the New York Healthy Lifestyle campaign, and is Chairwoman of the Interfaith Coalition for Peace & Safety. Her vast entrepreneurial ventures give her a more business-oriented and “boots on the ground” perspective on the City Council. In her own words, Kalan states,
“City Hall is out of touch. We need to fight crime, improve sanitation, support our struggling local businesses, ensure fiscal accountability, affordability, and fight burdensome taxes on working people while ensuring Queens gets the best possible city services. I want to run a truly people powered campaign fighting for your needs with common sense solutions, and not my own personal agenda.”
If elected to serve on New York’s City Council, Kalan has vowed to focus on creating better opportunities for children and families, enhancing public safety, cleaning our streets, supporting small businesses and local entrepreneurs, and aiding in job creation. The New York Young Republican Club strongly urges all New York City residents living in the neighborhoods of: Astoria, Rikers Island, parts of Jackson Heights, Woodside, and East Elmhurst to vote in support of Felicia Kalan for New York City Council District 22.
