Who Are the Panicans Now? NYYRC Supports New Iran Deal

By June 18, 2026No Comments

The New York Young Republican Club stands with President Trump, our Commander-in-Chief, and Vice President JD Vance on the new Iran deal which will bring the hostilities in the region to a close and will open the strait of Hormuz.

There are two paths forward with Iran. One, we put boots on the ground in order to remove Iranian leadership, or, having removed prior Iranian political and military leaders, having wiped out their navy, air force, much of their missile capacity, and their ability to have nuclear weapons, we declare victory and pull out.

Make no mistake, Iran has been the head of the terrorist snake since 1979. If the Iranian people rise up and wish to change their government from a fundamentalist Islamic revolutionary state to a state that respects its neighbors and deals fairly with others, that would have been welcomed. After a few months, and many panican attacks later, this has not transpired and the alternative is not supported by the American people. This wasn’t just the most preferable choice, it was the only choice. And it need not be a permanent choice either.

Unlike the Iran deal of last decade under Obama the Appeaser and the weakness under Joe Biden, eras that made the world more and more dangerous, President Trump has backed up his negotiations and big stick diplomacy with a willingness to use military force when necessary. Under Obama Iran got pellets of cash. Under Trump they will get investment for recovery, pushing the leverage onto investors, which will cut off Iran’s ability to finance terror groups and networks. Severely decimated in that capacity, Iran’s desperation in their defenses has also reinforced an Israeli and Arab coalition that was already taking shape with the Abraham Accords, the tremendous diplomatic accomplishment that started in President Trump’s first term, which doubled the total amount of peace and normalization deals that the prior four decades of American presidents had reached.

Also unlike prior eras, President Trump in both the first and second administrations has consistently shown remarkable leadership as a Commander-in-Chief that respects the sacrifices and service of those in uniform who go into harm’s way. We mourn the loss of 13 brave American servicemembers in this conflict. Under Joe Biden, 13 service members died on our way out of a war we should have declared won and over after bringing Osama bin Laden to justice. Whether you were a panican yesterday, or are one today, we encourage all American patriots to take a step back and realize how far we have come since the embarrassing foreign policy debacle that was the Afghanistan withdrawal and more wars through weakness.

This is what peace through strength looks like. A policy of credible and overpowering military strength and coercive diplomacy combined with realism and restraint is the behavior of a superpower that is also a Constitutional Republic, not an Empire.

America has achieved a tremendous victory, a considerable upgrade from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam which cost trillions of dollars, were decade-long wars where tens of thousands of American lives were lost and tens of thousands more were wounded, while featuring ever-shifting goals and goalposts, and little transparency or accountability to the American voter.

This is welcome news as America prepares to reign in our 250th birthday.

This is Our Republic, let’s be worthy stewards of it for another 250 years.
