As New York City’s mayoral primary elections approach, City Comptroller Brad Lander resorted to a desperate stunt today to boost his failing campaign. Storming an immigration court in lower Manhattan, Lander obstructed federal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who arrived to arrest illegals at the scene. Lander grabbed a federal detainee and refused to allow ICE agents to remove him from the premises. Faced with this uncouth display of anarchy, ICE agents promptly arrested Lander for assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer.
No one is above the law, including Brad Lander. Democrats like Lander refuse to recognize that entering the United States illegally is prohibited under 8 U.S.C. § 1325; even overstaying a visa is a deportable civil violation under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Enforcing borders is fundamental to preserving national sovereignty; the Democratic Party’s rejection of this fact threatens America’s national security, sovereignty, and existence. Today, Brad Lander publicly sided with a criminal alien in open violation of America’s laws. If our country is to function, it must neither tolerate nor endorse lawbreakers.
The anarchy on display today has no place in any American city, let alone New York City. The federal government must bring all resources to bear to restore law and order. In a feeble attempt to energize his corpse of a campaign, Brad “Pander” pulled one of the most pathetic political stunts on record. His behavior does not befit a serious mayoral candidate, and the New York Young Republican Club calls for New Yorkers to firmly reject him at the ballot box. New York City needs a mayor who will side with law over anarchy, citizens over criminal aliens, and the rule of law over chaos.
If New Yorkers believe in law and order, they should vote Republican.
