New York, NY Over 100 people were in attendance at the dinner celebrating the New York Young Republican Club 90th Anniversary on June 26th, including a regular Who's Who of New York politicians.
Emcee Curtis Sliwas introduced speakers former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, E. Virgil Conway, Emily Pataki, and Assembly Candidates Anton Srdonovic and Joseph Holland.
Mayor Bloomberg took the opportunity to praise George Pataki as "arguably the best governor New York has ever had." He also urged the Governor's many supporters not to take his reelection for granted because of his high approval ratings throughout the state.
The keynote speaker for the event was Bernard Kerik. The former police commissioner spoke about September 11th, warning the audience never to forget the horrific events of that day. Many of the attendees were moved to tears as he discussed how the government forgot their partisan feelings to fight the attack, which was not just an attack on the city, but the entire country and its values.
Emily Pataki was particularly pleased to be in attendance. "It was an honor to be a part of the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the New York Young Republican Club," said the daughter of Governor George E. Pataki and director of People for Pataki. "The spirit of unity and enthusiasm that is the hallmark of our campaign was tremendously evident. I look forward to working with this distinguished group to further the goals of the Republican Party and build even greater support for my father, along with the entire Republican ticket, in this Fall's election."
