THE NEW YORK YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB, INC. RESPONDS TO FORMER VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE'S LATEST STATEMENTS

In just the latest example of both poor personal judgment and political devisiveness, former Vice President Al Gore - who backed Howard Dean's failed presidential run last spring - has called for the resignation of high-ranking members of President Bush's administration. At a speech sponsored by the radical liberal organization MoveOn.org, Gore railed against not only President Bush's policies, but also insisted that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, CIA head George Tenet, and National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice and Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz resign over the situation in Iraq.
The New York Young Republican Club considers Gore's statements not only outrageous, but dangerous: in a time of war, this country should stand united, and support the leaders whose policies have kept the country safe since that fateful morning of September 11, 2001. President Dennis Cariello noted that, "The timing of these comments displays an utter lack of discretion on the part of the Former Vice President, in light of Secretary Ridge's formal announcement this morning of renewed threats and credible evidence of impending Al Queda attacks on US soil this summer. Mr. Gore's comments are especially stunning considering that it was the timidity and indifference of the Clinton administration that permitted bin Laden and his cronies to operate freely, allowing the Al Qaeda threat to spread unchecked throughout the world."
