Obamacare Will Destroy Health Innovation
How do we know this? Look across the pond!
From GenomeWeb:
UK government officials are warning that cuts to the government’s science budget will lead to a “brain drain” of researchers leaving the country, says the Guardian‘s Alok Jha. In a letter to science minister David Willetts, chairman of the House of Lords science and technology committee Lord John Krebs says several labs have already lost researchers to institutions in other countries, and that further cuts to science spending — like the 25 percent cut the government is planning for all its departments — would cause even more drain, Jha writes.
Britain’s NHS has been around since 1946. It is a complete failure and the people exist to serve its budgetary concerns. In Orwellian doublespeak terms, the website of the NHS – a politburo that exists explicitly to RESTRICT consumer choice – trumpets “Your health, your choices.” That’s EXACTLY backwards.
Look, as someone who works in the field of academic medicine, I’ll tell you – the government largely runs this business already, and there is unbelievable nonsense all around the sector: duplication of resources, dislocation, endless planning that results in no tangible results, armies of paper pushers, regulations up the wazoo, fatigue from companies who know that government is always in the way.
As someone who has lived in Canada, I can tell you I’ve read similar stories a thousand times. Talent goes to where there is opportunity. The United States was the only place that rewarded talent in the health care industry through the free market system. We’re giving that up, and very much to our (and the world’s) dismay.
The LAST thing we need is more government in health care. Vote and volunteer for a candidate who opposes Obamacare in principle and will do their best to undermine it at every step.
