“It is a Jihad for the sake of God and will last until our religion prevails… from Spain to Iraq”

Those were the words of Al-Qaida’s number two man, Al-Zawahri. So to you Democrats, do you still think the war in Iraq is not worth winning? Do you still think if we just compromise with Muslim extremists and abandon the Middle East that they will go away and not chase after us?

I know Democrat think whatever Republicans say is a lie and untrue but what about what Al-Zawahri, the man himself says? Just what does his comment “until our religion prevails” mean to Democrats?

  • the ‘war on terror’ will never be won. there will always be terrorists and there will be violent fundamentalists of all religion long after you, I or anybody who reads this is dead so you cannot phrase it in terms of ‘winning’. Is the war against al qaeda and islamic terrorists worth fighting? of course. too bad we decided to stop fighting it and leave Osama & co. to escape and instead invade a nation with no WMDs, no ties to al qaeda and turn it into a breeding ground for more terrorists. At the cost of 2700 americans, countless Iraqi civilians and billions of dollars, we have made the problem worse.

  • Anonymous,

    “No ties to al-Qaeda”

Apparently you have been reading too much of the New York Times. Let me read you some quotes from the 9/11 Report. You know, that bipartisan report that Democrats love to point too to attack the President for not doing enough.

    Page 61:

“Bin Laden was also willing to explore possibilities for cooperation with Iraq.”

“In the late 1990s, these extremist groups (located in northern Iraq) suffered major defeats by Kurdish forces. In 2001, with Bin Ladin’s help they re-formed into an organization called Ansar al Islam. There are indications that by then the Iraqi regime tolerated and may even have helped Ansar al Islam against the common Kurdish enemy.”

Anonymous, if you recall back in 2003 every news source reported the joint Kurdish and U.S. attack on Ansar al Islam’s camp at the start of the war.

Besides this obvious proof, Saddam routinely gave money to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers.

Lets also not forget that when U.S. troops invaded Baghdad, they discovered terrorist Abu Abbas, the head of the terrorist group that hijacked the Achille Lauro. What was he doing in Iraq may I ask, if Saddam had no connections to terrorists?
