The Bigger They Czar, the Harder They Fall
Posted by: | CommentsI wrote a bit about the Van Jones debacle for this week’s Patriot Post Digest. A sample: Jones’s name appeared on a petition stating that the Bush administration deliberately brought about the 9/11 terrorist attacks to have an excuse to go to war. Jones would only say that he did not review the language of the petition carefully. How complicated must a petition be for a Yale man like Jones not to understand? The White House hopes that this business will end with Jones’s resignation.... Read More→
Administration Sings its Own Praises, Again
Posted by: | CommentsI know beach reading season is over, but you simply must check out the latest work of fiction put out by the White House. The Council of Economic Advisers released a report yesterday claiming that the $787 stimulus package has saved or added 1 million jobs to the economy since February. They also claim they are on track to save the 3.5 million jobs that Obama promised earlier this year. Of course they are. Did you ever for a moment think that they were going to state that they would miss this goal?... Read More→

Hitch a Ride on the Tea Party Express
Posted by: | CommentsThe Tea Party Express is headed to Washington this weekend to give the liberals what-for about health care, the stimulus, and numerous other ham-handed attempts to wrestle freedom from our clutches and put the government in greater control of our lives. Alas, I won’t be able to make it, but there is still a chance for you to hitch a ride. Check out TeaPartyExpress.org for more details. Read More →
Obama’s falling fortunes
Posted by: | CommentsFred Barnes has a great one in the latest Weekly Standard: Death of a Salesman. An excerpt: A candidate can get away with speeches that are glib and vague. A president can’t. “It’s easy to sell ice cream,” says Don Stewart, the spokesman for Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell. “It’s hard to sell rum raisin ice cream.” Obama’s problem is he hasn’t learned the difference. Overworked City Council staffers petition for Quinn
Posted by: | CommentsCheck out this interesting little gem in the Village Voice about how paid New York City Council staffers found time during petitioning season to gather signatures to get Speaker Christine Quinn on the ballot in District 3 for the upcoming election. But, wait, is that legal? Well, if they are doing it on their own time, yes it is. But I challenge you to find me one intrepid signature fetcher who was able to pull this off after hours: “obtaining 55 signatures for the speaker. She went from 12th... Read More→

The Country is Not Turning Left
Posted by: | CommentsIf one were to believe the media, one would think the country is marching in lockstep to Obama’s ideas and to his philosophy. One would be wrong. Check out some of these numbers from recent polls conducted by Rasmussen: 21 percent favor the GM bailout, 67 percent oppose it 76 percent believe economic recovery is possible if GM fails 18 percent believe the government will run GM effectively And Pew Research Center: The proportion of independents now equals its highest level in 70 years….... Reflecting on the Obama Lovefest
Posted by: | CommentsRobert Samuelson has another gem in today’s Washington Post about “The Obama Infatuation” and how the media’s inexplicable love affair with the president is shortchanging America’s ability to have an honest political debate about his policies. An excerpt: Obama’s rhetoric brims with inconsistencies. In the campaign, he claimed he would de-emphasize partisanship — and also enact a highly partisan agenda; both couldn’t be true. He got a pass. Now, he... Read More→
