Bloomberg Makes Best of 3rd Term, Attacks NaCl

NYC’s nanny-state progressive, excuse me… non-partisan, bold acting Mayor, who forced himself into a 3rd consecutive term by amending a popular law, is taking to task the evil consumers of the chemical compound sodium chloride.

That’s right. After banning cigarette smoking in private establishments and raising his city’s prices for cigarettes to ~$10 a pack through taxation (to fund what, exactly?), the egomaniac good mayor, who couldn’t stand the thought of leaving office amidst a municipal financial crisis and going down in history as a taxer and spender… is attacking table salt.

Not to be outdone, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome chimed in, disappointed he wasn’t first:

“Just because FOX was attacking [Bloomberg] as the nanny mayor and I thought, I can’t cede that position,” Newsom quipped.

Newsom says it appears evident the nation is overdosing on salt.

“It’s a legitimate issue,” he said. “David Kessler just wrote a wonderful book about this issue, about how these big chain restaurants..have become successful predominantly on the issues of salt and sugars and fats, how we’ve created a generation of obese people.”

“The issue of salt is a very serious issue,” Newsom said.

Can’t adults make decisions themselves without a brooding government health bureau? If not, and the people aren’t conscious that eating McDonald’s for each of the three meals is unhealthy and the cause of their obesity, can these avuncular mayors at least acknowledge how badly their public school systems have failed students?
