Eric Holder’s Cowards
ByAttorney General Eric Holder berated America at large this week for being a “nation of cowards” about the subject of race. His high and mighty pronouncement came right about the same time that Al Sharpton and his racial bogeymen called for the firing of a New York Post cartoonist and a general boycott of the paper for a cartoon Sharpton deemed to be racist. God does indeed have a sense of humor.
Holder’s roundabout request for a dialogue about race should be taken for what it is. And Heather Mac Donald of the Manhattan Institute calls him on his comments with relish. If he wants this dialogue to happen, then we should frankly address the impact of race on the American electorate, education, crime, and other issues.
But does Holder really want a conversation about race or is this just another opportunity to spread around some good old fashioned “white guilt.” John McWhorter, also of the Manhattan Institute, explores that question and unfortunately discovers that it is the latter.
Well, Mr. Holder, your dialogue about race in America has begun. How do you like it so far?

I like the assessment of Holder’s comments. No, Holder does not want a complete and honest dialogue about race. Because a dialogue involves more than 1 person/side talking. For Holder talking about race means talking about Whites’ role in the failure of blacks to prosper in America. Holder does not want to consider any other aspect of race relations – like ones your post pointed out such as crime and politics. And honest talk about affirmative action would not be welcome by Holder.
Holder’s job should be to keep the US DOJ focused on crime fighting efforts. If he wants to be a blacktivist and give personal speeches about race then he should resign.
